My Generation is Emanu El's social group of members of our community who are 65 and older.
The group will meet at Emanu El by 8:45 am as they depart for Galveston. The air-conditioned bus will return to the synagogue upon concluding the scheduled activities.
Highlights of the day-long trip to Galveston include a private tour of the Opera House, taking in a panoramic view of Galveston from the 20th floor of the American National Bank building, a tour of the Galveston historical district and a docent led tour of Moody Mansion on Broadway.
During the day, the group will enjoy lunch at the American National Executive Dining Room where they will find a buffet with several entrees, salads, soup, dessert, tea and coffee. The trip also includes a stop at La King’s Confectionery, a 1920’s style soda fountain on the Strand.
The tour is limited to the first 40 individuals that sign up.
The cost is $20 per person and includes admission to the Moody Mansion and lunch. Individuals are also encouraged to bring a little extra money if they would like to purchase a goody at La King’s
Other programs offered by My Generation for the coming year include a Shabbat dinner in January, pre-Pesach cooking class with Rabbi Pam Silk in March and a table for the Second Night Seder at Emanu El in April. More information about these, and additional coming programs, will be shared at a later date.
