This year's community-wide day of Jewish learning known as Yom Limmud will take place at Emanu El. Scores of seminars featuring presentations by clergy, Jewish educators, college professors and more will be facilitated throughout the day. Emanu El encourages your involvement in this fun and engaging day!
Our clergy will be teaching classes as part of the day. Rabbi Silk will teach Jewish Mourning and Grief in Text and Tradition from 9:00-9:50am, Rabbi Hayon’s session entitled Famous Last Words will take place from 1:00-1:50 p.m. while Rabbi Kahn leads Changing Jewish Identity in the State of Israel, from 1:00-2:20pm.
Also as part of the festivities surrounding Yom Limmud, Emanu El will be hosting Barish Limmud Scholar Rabbi Naomi Levy throughout the weekend as our scholar-in-residence. Her visit is co-sponsored by Congregation Emanu El and the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston in partnership with the Barish Family/The Chair King. In addition to her presentations at our synagogue during Shabbat, she will also be presenting at the Federation’s annual day of learning, Yom Limmud, on Sunday, February 19 at Congregation Emanu El, 1500 Sunset Blvd. For a complete schedule and to preregister for Yom Limmud, go to www.houstonjewish.org/yomlimmud.
