Adult Learning Session with Spike Kraus: Music as Midrash

As part of its Chanukah weekend, MUSIC AT EMANU EL presents Spike Kraus, teacher, composer, and joyful artist, to brighten our Chanukah Shabbat and Havdalah celebrations. Spike brings his spirit to the entire weekend filled with music and learning opportunities for all ages.

On Sunday, December 10, join us for Music as Midrash, a text-based workshop using Spike’s music to explore the concept of “midrash,” why it’s important and how contemporary Jewish songwriting is a modern practice of “midrash” — answering questions and reframing these ancient words for the 21st century.
