Book Review

Liza Wiemer’s The Assignment was inspired by a real-life high school class in which students were made to role play Nazis and argue for the Final Solution at the 1942 Wannsee Conference.

As the school administration addresses the teens’ refusal to participate in the appalling debate, the student body, their parents, and the larger community are also forced to face the issue. The situation explodes, and acrimony and anger result. What will it take for tolerance and justice to prevail?

This month’s selection will be reviewed by Carol Sue Zionts. The event will take place in the Oshman Multi-Purpose Room, and refreshments will be served. There is no charge, but please RSVP online or by contacting the Sisterhood office at 713.529.5771, ext. 233 or sishood@emanuelhouston.org.
