About the book:
My Grandfather Would Have Shot Me: A Black Woman Discovers Her Family’s Nazi Past is a fascinating memoir by German writer Jennifer Teege and Nikola Sellmair. Teege recounts her discovery at age 38 that her grandfather was Amon Goeth, the vicious Auschwitz commandant depicted in Steven Spielberg’s film Schindler’s List. Teege was adopted and learned about her family history after reading a biography of her biological mother. This book details Teege’s discovery of her ancestry and her attempts to come to terms with this revelation by researching her family and traveling to Israel and Krakow.
