For a special twist on Emanu El Young Professionals’ annual exploration of apology and forgiveness, Rabbi Fixler will be joined by nationally known artists and teachers Isaac & Rabbi Shawna Brynjegard-Bialik. Together, they will lead us on a journey from comic books to the silver screen to explore the themes of apology and forgiveness that are central to this season in the Jewish year.
About Our Guests
Isaac Brynjegard-Bialik redefines storytelling through his transformative papercuts. He cuts up comic books and reassembles them into papercuts that explore the stories of the Jewish people, seamlessly connecting popular culture with sacred texts. He has shown his papercuts in galleries across the globe, and has commissions in museums, synagogues, hospitals, and private collections. Rabbi Shawna Brynjegard-Bialik adapts traditional Jewish concepts to a modern Reform context, and brings that synergy to students of all ages. She is an engaging teacher of Torah, bringing text to life with her unique, modern perspective.
